Main Street Caucus Chair: The Democrat Led Schumer Shutdown Hurts Working Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tonight, the Republican Main Street Caucus Chair Mike Flood (R-Nebraska) issued a statement as the federal government was poised to enter a shutdown after Senate Democrats blocked government funding which had previously passed the House of Representatives.
“Tonight, the government will shut down as Washington Democrats demand $1.5 trillion in additional spending to cater to their far-left base. Republicans in both the House and the Senate voted for a clean extension of government funding, which Democrats in the House and Senate overwhelmingly opposed. This Democrat government shut down means our military won’t get paid, our veterans will see reduced levels of services, and working Americans will have a tougher time accessing government agencies. It’s time for Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer to do the right thing and to vote to open the federal government so we can get Washington working for the American people again.”
