February 14, 2025

What They Are Saying on Main Street- Agent Raul Gonzalez Safety Act

This week the House passed H.R. 35, the Agent Raul Gonzalez Safety Act. This legislation protects American communities by imposing criminal penalties on individuals who evade U.S. Border Patrol agents or law enforcement officials assisting Border Patrol. It also provides law enforcement with tools to punish illegal immigrants who evade border patrol by making them removable from the U.S.

Here is what Main Street Members are saying:

RMSC Video of the Week ft Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06):The House just passed the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act authored by @RepCiscomani. This commonsense legislation is a critical step in delivering on our promise to secure the border and protect our communities.

Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06): 🚨On day ONE of the 119th Congress I introduced H.R. 35 the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act to impose federal penalties on bad actors involved in high-speed chases with our local and federal law enforcement.

We MUST crack down on smuggling activity to keep our communities safe and I appreciate the support for this critical legislation. Read more below ⬇️

Congressman Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06): In 2022, Border Patrol Agent Raul Gonzalez was killed during a high-speed chase along the border.

Tomorrow, the House will vote on my bill, the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act, to honor his memory and make sure this tragedy never happens again.

Chairwoman Lisa McClain (MI-09): One hundred fifty-four Democrats voted last Congress to protect illegals who endangered law enforcement and our communities.

Will they change their minds today?

@HouseGOPwill honor the life of Agent Raul Gonzalez and protect our law enforcement officers from illegal aliens — with or without Democrats’ support.

Congressman Jeff Crank (CO-05): Voted YES on @RepCiscomani's Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act. This bill will help ensure that American communities & law enforcement are protected from cartels and smugglers that choose to incite violence while bringing illegal aliens across our borders.

Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01): I just stood with @POTUS and voted for the Raul GonzalezOfficer Safety Act to hold accountable illegal aliens who endanger border patrol and law enforcement.

Congressman Mike Simpson (ID-02): Today, I presided over the House floor as we passed the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act. Passing this commonsense bill sends a clear message to criminal cartels and illegal immigrants that the U.S. will hold accountable those who break our laws and endanger our law enforcement officers.

Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09): Today, I spoke in support of @RepCiscomani’s H.R. 35, the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act, which ensures law enforcement has the necessary tools to fully prosecute illegal immigrants who deliberately evade Border Patrol agents. The American people will not tolerate lawlessness or policies that prioritize criminals over citizens. This legislation sends a clear message to cartels and traffickers: endangering American lives will have serious consequences. I am pleased that it passed the House by a vote of 264-155 and will now move to the Senate for further consideration.

Congressman John Rutherford (FL-05): We must protect the many men & women who put their lives on the line every day to protect our border & our nation. That's why I was proud to vote YES on H.R. 35 to give law enforcement authorities the tools to fully penalize & impose immigration consequences on illegal immigrants who commit crimes, endanger American citizens, & evade Border Patrol agents.

Congressman Derrick Van Orden (WI-03): Rep. Van Orden just voted YES on @RepCiscomani's bill to hold criminal illegal aliens accountable. The Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act will make illegal aliens who evade our Border Patrol agents ineligible for asylum and inadmissible to and removal from the U.S. Bottom line: this bill puts the safety and security of Americans first!
